Mauricio Pochettino and the FA are to discuss how best to use Harry Kane, with the Tottenham manager concerned that his striker could face burn out.
England manager Roy Hodgson is ready to call on the 24-goal striker to face Lithuania and Italy this month but Gareth Southgate also wants him for the European Under 21 Championship finals.
Leaving Kane, 21, out of the senior team is almost an impossibility, and FA technical director Dan Ashworth believes he should play for the Under 21s in the Czech Republic in June to gain tournament experience.
‘We need to speak with the FA,’ Pochettino said. ‘You always support the national team. It’s important to analyse the season and his fitness levels.
‘Maybe I’d prefer that Harry has a month’s holiday after the season to rest and recover his body and mind. We need to analyse better, to go deeper into the case with all the dates to take a decision.
‘For us he is a very important player and we think he will be an important player for England.’
Kane plays his 40th game of the campaign against Swansea tonight and Spurs are aware that he could play almost non-stop for 22 months if England qualify for Euro 2016. – Daily Mail
