Johannesburg - There was no minute's silence in honour of Senzo Meyiwa at Orlando Stadium on Saturday evening ahead of Orlando Pirates' first match since the death of their former goalkeeper.

Pirates hosted SuperSport United in a Telkom Knockout semi-final clash on their home ground, 13 days after former Pirates captain was shot and killed in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni, while visiting his singer girlfriend Kelly Khumalo.

Two men entered the house demanding cellphones and shot him before fleeing.

A prayer was held shortly before kick-off by the Pirates players and staff.

Forty-five minutes before Pirates and SuperSport kicked-off, the Springboks and Ireland observed a minute's silence, in Dublin, in remembrance of Meyiwa, as well as four other South African sporting icons who died recently.
